Nate, I didn't send any email to you. I'm waiting for a reply from Cory/ a chance to meet and talk with him so that we can set a time and date for the event. He is currently out of town and is supposed to come back next week. After that, I suppose we begin work on getting the rights to show the movies. If you'd like, I can approach Amy tommorow later today about the idea.

As for meeting Friday, I suppose I could swing by.

That's cool. If you can talk with her and get the ball rolling on this side it will help. Before I contact the companies I would like to know how the college itself would want to be involved or if they will do the work for us. The quickest part of this is getting in contact with the companies themselves and signing the paperwork. The slowest part I feel will be dealing with the college itself. If we have a date things will work much more smoothly and faster since I can then offer a time frame to my contacts. If they know that we need to get things finalized by say the end of August (including receiving the screening copies) then it should get done.

Also, I just realized that Akira was not produced by Manga, at least not recently. It was produced by Pioneer. I'm currently working on figuring out who in the US still holds the licensee if anyone. Of course this would include who we would need to talk to in order to get the rights to show it. I'll let you all know who it is once I find out.

holy crap, there's actually a welcome week meeting today at 3. Also, I spoke with Amy and I'll tell her to contact you, Nate. I know far too little to understand all of this. Also, it may be OK for you to work things out with the companies. One more thing, it may be possible to dip into welcome week funding.

That still poses a problem, though...since Geneon is no longer doing anything related to American distribution, who would we have to contact? Or would we still have to somehow go through them regardless?

k, meeting over. Thursday and Friday of that week were already taken, so we have Tuesday from 5-9. If need be we could probably change the times, since nothing is set in stone yet. We could probably get the event partially payed for with the welcome week budget. Nate, I'll give your school email and name to Amy so that you two can work together to get the rights.
