Streaming as a whole is to blame. Don't forget that Toonami and Adult Swim also have streaming sites for their shows, both of which are more popular than the airings on their actual networks thanks to the ability to watch whenever instead of waiting for timeslots that you may not be able to see.
Honestly, though, while I love the convenience, I'd much rather watch anime on my TV where I can get it in high quality and don't have to stare at a small screen. Anime viewing will never reach perfection until you can combine the best of both worlds.

I'm going to stick to dvds and torrents. CN anime died a long time ago for me.

im still holding on the CN along with my DVD's tho... if CN keeps on doing this I might just forget about CN tho there are a few shows that's still keeping form forgetting about them just a few shows...
