Gabe has given me full Administrator rank of this forum so the new forum that was created is unneeded. I appreciate your efforts to create the new forum and everything, but it would of been much easier to come to me so I could ask Gabe for the account upgrade, which he complied with right away after I asked him. It will be much easier to keep everything on this forum that everyone already knows the location to and where all our previous posts and information is stored. So, I have deleted the new forum and continue to post on this forum where I now hold full Administrator functions which will be passed down to the next president once I leave in the future.

Personally, I would like to see us move away from proboards. Not really because of administrator things, but more on the fact that the pro-boards software is really lacking

It was only bought to my attention recently We have a official Forum on the University Server. However for the sake of Checks and Balances the Admin password goes to neutral party. The reason we are on proboards is because Gabe wanted unquestionable power. It was set up by Former VP Mike Bradberry/suzuka249 . If we go to that board once again it the admin stay neutral. This call is up to club.

steve, the reason we did not opt with a school board is 2 fold one, our non student members would be blocked from posting, and two the school moderates them and some of the content that anime fans consider nothing might offend the schools moderator staff.
also your less a student than i am, so quit thinking that now that i'm retired you can come in and take over.

I Know. Like I said to me it is only a matter of checks and balances. Ed is fine in my book, and that is the main reason he was given the Admin password to the new forum. THANK YOU FOR PROVING ME RIGHT.

I think it would still be more convenient to stay on the boards here, but I'm curious to what you're thinking of as an alternative.

If I could make a suggestion, I do some administrative work on another site, and due to a combination of the limited abilities of Proboards and a sudden uncontrollable influx of spambots, we ended up building an entirely new message board using MyBB, and it's been working great for us. Unfortunately, we'd need to find some place to host it, though...

Well maybe Nate could help us out with that? I'll consult both of you on your suggestions for location of a new forum. This one seems to be working fine for right now, but a lot of people are wanting and suggesting a new forum for a series of reasons. After I hear what you two have to say, I will think it over and then ultimately ask the club what they would like or if some new ideas would be welcome and accepted.

Well, I prefer phpBB myself. As of v3 the control mechanisms are awesome. It can allow attachments and all kinds of stuff (youma is working toward moving to it soon.) It requires some web space and a sql server. I do have web space a plenty and extra mysql servers that I can setup. (I mean, I have like 50 I can use and I only have like 5 right now and only 1 is really actually in use)

I have one very important question. Does Gabe still have admin powers and if so why?

Gabe does still have admin powers because they are permanently tied to his account here. It would be impossible for him to downgrade his account or anything of the sort. He has been very cooperative with me and I'm sure that he would if he could. Right now I have all the powers that he does, except for the fact that I can't modify his account and I can't delete the entire forum. But I have every other power available to me, and really that is all that I need right now.
