OK, before I begin I want to Warn people of possible spoilers ahead. I don't want to spoil this awesome show for anyone so I'm just getting that out of the way first. OK so I was watching the later episodes of Soul Eater and noticed the building tension between Death the Kid and his (awesome) dad Shinigami-sama. Its obvious something big is about to happen between them so my mind is going crazy with possibilities. Since my mind is going crazy with possible climaxes between the two I also happened to notice something in the ending credits. In the 4th ending they show a good view of the demon gods face. looking at his hair, eyes, and general face design doesn't he resemble Death the Kid a little too much? Compare so now I'm wondering if this isn't a coincidence. Is there's going to be a revealing later on that Death the kid was adopted and is actually the son of Asura the Demon God? I haven't gotten that far in the manga yet so I don't know if there's anything that supports or disproves my theory in it. I wouldn't be surprised if it isn't a coincidence since all the main characters had at least 1 episode were they talk about there dysfunctional families (Maka's had more then I can count). If anyone has read the manga, is there anything in there that supports or disproves this?. Am I just noticing things? Could there be a possible relation? What do you guys think?

I like noticed that when the new OP came out. I havent been watching soul ina bit i fell behind..alot behind.
its possible there is some un-spoken ( yet ) something about those things.
But seeing as death the kid has his own investigation of why his dad is collecting demon tools might lead into it
*i watch the anime i dont read it too lazy*

I'm not sure the relation between Death the Kid and the Demon God, but it doesn't feel like it is leaning towards that. I get more of a vibe about Maka's mom being some big mystery.
Speaking of moms...who do you think is Death the Kid's? ( I have a vague suspicion-ish idea thingie that I am not at all faithful in that came from something that happened in ep 50.)
But, as you're someone who is reading and watching, I had a quick look at the manga when I ran out of released eps, and it seemed like pretty big difference, in where they're taking the story, was it? Or did it just seem that way on a cursory glance?

Maka's mom has always been a big mystery. all we get about her is that she sends postcards with one letter messages on it and that she travels the world instead of stay with her daughter.
when you think of it none of the main characters have a 2 parent family. Black stars real parents were all killed and tsubaki's parents were never really mentioned but her brother went evil and became a demon sword. and maka just avoids her father and souls parents aren't even hinted at.
I dropped my whole suspicion of Death the kid being Asura's son since the main battle its constantly hinted at that death and Shinigami are connected. plus he keeps screaming honorable father at him.
what are your suspicions towards Death the kids mom? I have nothing in mind since I haven't even caught any hints towards who was lucky enough to get THAT close with the awesome shinigami-sama to make a baby with him.
the manga's ending took a whole different turn from the actual anime after you get to where shinigami-sama use brew. after I posted this thread I went and read the whole series and I'm kinda sad they didn't focus on Ox and that one girls relationship as much. I thought that was so cute but I guess they just like to hint at the relationships in the anime and focus mainly on the action (which is still fine with me since its so good).

I noticed that after ep 51, the show seems to have ended? I thought that was waaay too abrupt, and need to go read the manga now.
My suspicions about Death the Kid was that he was a rebirthing of sorts of Shinigami-sama himself, since as he was powering up in ep 50, Shinigami-sama's mask was cracking more and more. I thought it made sense that when Shinigami-sama had to bind himself to Death City, he'd "break off" so to speak, a piece of himself to be able to move freely.
It is a COMPLETE coincidence of course, that this means there is no real mother that I would need to acknowledge in the creation of Death the Kid, right?

OK, now that i have had enough time to finished watching the 51 episode, i noticed what you were talking about. the show did end kinda abruptly but you gotta admit, that was a good finale episode. I knew they wouldn't really drag it out to long since the series just sticks to moving forward without taking a lot of side tracks like filler episodes. I think the mask of shinigami sama cracking is the creator showing their father/son connection but if they show death the kid as shinigami sama's other half it would (hopefully!!) be shown in the next season. I'm hoping they will do another season or series of it since they left so many loose ends. we still don't know Maka or Death's mom. Free and all of Medusa's other henchmen are still running about (they just disappeared when everything went to hell). along with that they ended it with a small cliffhanger where Death's like, there's no reason to celebrate now since there will be a replacement for the demon god since there's still madness in the world. There's one thing that was made for sure though. MAKA IS KICKS ASS!!!!
