Well now that it's finally out, i've finished Sub DVD set 1, here are my impressions in no special order. Nia = Melfina Nia's eyes scare me deeply, she's trying to be Moe, but there's just something..... Yoko = 14 WTF!!!!!!!! the Kamina thing would have been far more impacting if i didn't know it was coming but it was still deep nuts. i admit Kamina is cool episode 6............ they don't call it the Gainax bounce for nothing Yoko's only 14? Bandai's sub DVDs made reminded me of high quality fansubs the Lagann for all it's rule breaking, it follows the rules of Super Robots Honestly i'm glad i waited, i've watched to many fansubs and not enough DVDs of late slightly monster of the weekish at some points after watching more i think this show well mixes the two sides of Gainax the over the top of Gunbuster and FLCL + the Seriousness of Eva + Kare Kano. and to wrap it up WTF Yoko's only fricken fourteen? !!!!!! honestly what are they feeding these girls in this barren future world?

one other impression, The Kamina thing would have also been more impacting if every other "cool mentor guy" didn't also die.

I thought the dub was pretty good overall. Steve Blum as Leeron was godly to the point where it actually started to creep me out.

This post shall be called "On the 7th Day they rested" Nice battles, still a bit predictable but good, just saw the end of the battle vs Lordgenome and from alot of the toys out there you wouldn't realize he's just the midboss. but still a recap episode? ? still more to finish

okay second DVD set finished
Epic battles check Yoko in some sceens mugging Revy for clothing The Nia = Anti-spiral thingy came up sooner than i expected The Computer head reminds me of what happened to Exodore in Macross 7 even if he still had his body he was still just there all Zordon-like Bandai finally added in subs for the music in these discs Translation still feels solid Simon almost seems normal with his doubts and issues at this point, more normal than most Super pilots for that matter he's almost acting like a modern day real type pilot. Good example of the flaws that can be found in a Lawful Good based culture. Mass produced Gurren Lagann....... i thought this was super style Luke, not Real style.......... But why are they armed with swords rather than Drills???

Yeah, the show does get a little more "real" and a little less "super" during the first half of the timeskip, but believe me, that doesn't last long.
Also, much love for the Gulaparl units, even if they are fairly useless.

they follow the traditional rules for MPs, only the ones pilots by named characters survive the major battles..........

DVD done
and now for some final comments
First that was one of the most epic fights i've ever seen right up there with the SDF 1 vs Zentradi. - 10th and 11th dimentions........ gainax makes my head hurt in many many ways. - The whole most everyone dieing thing does put a minor crimp in the otherwise happy ending. -Nia still disturbs me AS mode or not - 21 Yoko is far far more easy to take than thinking she's 14 - Poor Yoko - Using Galaxies as thrown weapons? thous i don't think count as true galaxies as we spiral beings understand with our about to percive only 4 dimentions - really gainax you did it again after a long while you finally matched the heart pounding magic of of old school mecha with your plot artistry of EVA, it starts off with this Spiral king seeming like he was the big boss yet he dies before the show is even half done but not quite. -Music was also quite epic
Maybe more comments on the show later
Bandai -2 dvds per release -good price -sub only -feels like a pro grade fansub -getting it out quickly after ADV lost the rights
Conclusion I FEEL THE URGE TO BREAK THE HEAVENS WITH MY DRILL *wears his goggles*
