Heh, the real question is, do we really want to make an amature hentai/dating sim? Who's gonna do the sound for that?
Seriously, I'm all for it; I can do some writing and acting if needed. I just need an interesting concept to work on - I'm not too good at original concepts yet.
What should it be about? Guys in an anime club? Kick-ass giant robots? Getting girls? Getting girls from an anime club who turn into kick-ass giant robots?

Heh, the real question is, do we really want to make an amature hentai/dating sim? Who's gonna do the sound for that? Never said that was my intention. But, if necessary, I suppose we can always outsource... My mind has been blown. In all seriousness, I think the first thing we have to do, like Chow said, is establish a plotline. Once we've done that and figured out the basics of the program, the rest should be easy since I know we have a number of folks in the club with writing/artistic abilities. Let's mot make it too complex, though, since it's our first project and we don't want to overdo it.

Ok, so really, what should we do? How will the gameplay be like?
Should it be a dating sim (no please no)? A turn-based fighter? A turn-based, dating-fighting, sim - thing?
And the setting? Should it be sci-fi (cool, but getting a bit old)? Should it take place in the present day? A fantasy? Really, what do we want?
You want to know what I'm thinking? How about a sci-fi, fighting, war thingie, with lolicon and yaoi undertones. And transforming girl robots. Yeah, that too...

Ok, If you guys seriously want to do this lets start simple. It will be a simple dating sim/visual novel. You go through the story making choices and you get a different story depending on your choices. Simple enough.
Now, the real question is the plot. I would suggest trying to work with an anime or visual novel that most of us already know. Most of us know Tsukihime. We could try re creating it as a starter project. Or we could try making a sequal. We could also try and make a visual novel out of an anime that doesn't have a visual novel counter part or one that we haven't played.

Really, Veleon? I'm thinking about that and I feel that would break some copyright laws. Wouldn't that ruffle some feathers with some people?
I would prefer to do something original that requires a bit more thought - and perhaps something more manly.
And you can't get any more manly than sci-fi... or yaoi (heh, kidding!).

I don't think Copyright would be an issue if it's only going to be for our personal use (and perhaps if we send it to a few friends or something.)
I don't think, though, that we should just try to recreate an existing storyline. We should at least try to come up with a semi-original plot, even if we end up using existing characters. Kind of like The Subspace Emissary, but with dialogue and without gameplay.
With that said, let's try to come up with a cast list. Everybody just pick a few characters that you like, and we'll add them to a list of characters to insert into the game. Gender makes no difference, unless we do decide to take the dating-sim approach.
I'll need some time to pick mine, though. I'll figure it out eventually.

I don't think that randomly picking any characters will be a good idea. We need something we can work off of. I you don't just want to recreate something, fine. But we can't get in over are heads. You must crawl before you can walk. If you want something original I would suggest making a Fate/Stay Night and Tsukihime crossover story. Two separate storylines, yet they exsist in the same universe. The crossover is entirly possible, it uses characters most of us know about, and we can make an original story for it.

Hey, that's just my writing style, Veleon. All I need is a few characters' names, and I can come up with at least a half-decent plot. Remember, I managed to make a Sonic/Phoenix Wright crossover work...
But I understand where you're coming from. Since it is our first attempt, let's use as many existing resources as we can find, i.e. music, sounds, perhaps even graphics, to save ourselves some time. I'll see if I can create a "test" story of sorts to make sure I understand the ins-and-outs of the program.

Eh, I would still prefer to use an original story. I say that because this sounds a lot like a fan fiction project, and I haven't been to keen on those (with a few exceptions). Also, I'm not as well-versed with Fate/Stay Night and Tsukihime as many of you guys. I am familiar with those anime, but I don't know many of the details about them that make them so great as I do with Eva, so it would be difficult for me to contribute.
Is it because we don't have any artists willing to illustrate for a whole game that we're doing Fate/Stay Night and Tsukihime? If that's the case, I understand, since those series offer a lot of stock footage.
But if you really want to start simple, why not just do a simple scenario out of an original concept? Like a story of a guy just trying to commute to school, but a ton and a half of crap gets in the way (meteor lands in the road, car gets hijacked, gets the munchies, etc). Like the movie "Harold and Kumar go to White Castle", but shorter?

See that is for testing to see if the software works. We should know that it works because we aren't programming it.
Now, for an actual plot, I say stick with a crossover of two series. I like the Fate/Stay Night and Tsukihime idea.
Now if you don't want that then suggest something else. I mean we have a few ideas here.
Pick random characters, make an original plot, and etc.
Crossover two series, with original plot.
Or totally original plot and original characters.
I hate the idea of pick characters that have no correlation with each other. It is just asking to be bad. Writing style or not. I haven't liked stories like that. (No, I didn't like the Sub Space Emmisary story).
The idea I like the best is personally the one about recreating an anime as a visual novel. If we do it as a dating sim game. We can add original content. If for some god awful reason we did a dating sim game for Eva, we could have various endings. One of which will be the original ending. All the other ones could be endings for Asuka, or Rei, or Misato, or Ristuko, or even Yui. The endings could contain an original story from us. Just because the original story isn't ours. We can still make some original things in it.
