Anyone Interested in Voice Acting?

I'm involved with a fan project that is trying to animate the fan manga, Evangelion: ReTake with a few fellow geeks from around the world.

Well, the staff is low on voice actors. And, well, quality control would also be a plus. So would anyone like to try their hand in acting and help out with the project and propel them self into internet stardom? Because that would help, a lot.

Most of the main roles have been filled, but a lot of places are still open (female roles are in big demand, for obvious reasons). Unless you can do better than our current line up, then you can try to muscle your way in.

You're not the only one of my acquaintances that I've trapped onto EvaGeeks. If this keeps up, I can see it now:

One morning, I'll be found sodomized and impaled on a weather vane on the roof of my house. I'll have the words "EVA SUX" carved onto my face, and I'll have written the name of my murderer(s) using a handful of my own gore and entrails. Then, the neighbors will come out and say: "Hey, when did [Chowwow]'s house get a weather vane?"

Oh well, I'm sure the Director, Zeak, appreciates your interest, and that you'll do well. Try anything out if you feel like it!

In this is their guy voicing Kaji's role, as well as two guys competing for the big prize, Shinji. Kaji sounds really good, so what do you guys think of all the Shinjis?

For the record, yours truly has the bit role of Kozo Fuyutsuki. I'm drilling to the top!

We need voice actors and other artists who are proficient in Photoshop, editing, and flash animation.

Most of the main roles have been filled, but a lot of places are still open (female roles are in big demand, for obvious reasons). If you want to try for a role that has already been taken, then you can try to muscle your way in - if you are worthy.

Requirements for acting: you need voice recording software and hardware - as well as the confidence that your acting can capture the spirit and tone of the character.

Terms:
This is a non-profit and mostly anonymous effort: there will not be money, there will not be fame (unless you count internet kudos), and there will certainly NOT be any cake. Your only reward will be the satisfaction of joining this project and helping in the making of a marvelous work of art.

These are only the very preliminary animations, but what do you guys think of these so far?

By the way, most of the voice work for Volume 1 is complete. I wonder how it will fall in to place?

This just in from the director: all of the major roles for ReTake: the animation have finally been filled. Here is the final cast for the first episode (Volume 1):



I've listened to a few of the voice clips, and I have to say that the VAs for the major characters are eerily close to the American dub actors. I'm very surprised that the director was able to find these people and employ their talents. The only performance that I find dubious is, in fact, my own - though I only have 3 lines out of the entire production, so that may be forgivable.

With this, the final production stages for the first episode are drawing to an end. Look here and at a YouTube near you soon!

Update: The ReTake anime is basically finished, according to the director, but is undergoing polishing in the animation department. The release of Volume 1 is uncertain, since the director has been deployed in action and may not be back for a few more weeks.

Anyway, the real reason I bring this thread back up is to make a simple proposal: perhaps we can show this in club when it gets finished. Even if you have already read ReTake in its original form, I think this will make for a new experience.

In fact, one day I'd like to see showing this as a campus-wide event if possible. Of course we will have to build-up a reputation and get it approved, but I think showing this would be a great way to promote both this club and the ReTake project itself. What do you guys think?

It's a tough call. After all, ReTake obviously has some...less than appropriate scenes...

(Also, I'm autitioning for a new Yu-Gi-Oh fandub that even LittleKuriboh himself is getting involved in. I'll let you know if anything comes of that.)
